We're pleased to announce that we'll be returning to Valkyrie WMAA to offer another workshop - this time, on building grip, hand, and forearm strength. In addition, we'll be returning to Valkyrie every month to offer a new workshop on strength & conditioning. Keep up to date by following our blog posts and checking out our workshops page.
If you can't grip it, you can't lift it! Grip strength is an often overlooked aspect of strength & conditioning, yet is one of the most important areas for athletes to develop. Beyond athletics, grip strength is one of the most functional and useful forms of strength you can develop for everyday life, and an important indicator of overall health. This workshop will cover a variety of aspects of developing grip strength for fencing, gymnastic training, and everyday life, including:
Functional anatomy of the hand and lower arm;
Modern research on grip strength - why it's a better predictor of mortality than blood pressure;
Different types of grip and how to train them;
How to program grip training;
Blueprints, tools, and tips for making your own equipment & crafting a routine;
No prior experience is necessary. Please bring note-taking materials, water, and comfortable workout clothes.
